The history of livestock breeding in agriculture is a topical research theme that attracts increasing attention from historians of science. Animal breeding studies throw a fascinating light on scientific innovation, particularly on how processes of production, translation and appropriation of new knowledge work in a practical context. These 2 oio-positions (PhD studentships) are part of an NWO-sponsored project on Scientific Innovation in Livestock Breeding in the Netherlands between 1900 – 2000.

You have successfully completed a research master programme in history or history of science (or a comparable programme) and have shown a serious interest in the history of science and/or the history of agriculture.
