The revised 2012 SIEF Scholarships program includes funding for up to four John Stocker Postgraduate Scholarships (top-up), or 2 full Scholarships, commencing in 2012 over a three year period with preference for research in the fields of information and communication technology (ICT), mathematics and engineering and/or the 2012 priority research areas. While the program will retain the desired outcomes of encouraging return to study, promoting industry collaboration and valuing industry experience, the revised program includes more flexible selection criteria and collaborator requirements, encourages potential international collaboration and provides the opportunity for full scholarships.
-Applications for Postgraduate Scholarships will only be accepted from full-time students who will be enrolled in an eligible Australian Higher Education Institution during the term of the award. -In 2012, Scholarships are only available to Australian citizens or Australian permanent residents engaged in research projects leading to the award of a PhD from an Australian University. -For the year the scholarship is due to begin, students must have, or expect to gain, first class honours or equivalent in a relevant research area; and/or provide evidence of relevant industry experience. -For top-up Scholarships, the Student must expect to receive an Australian Postgraduate Award (APA) or equivalent scholarship commencing in that year or be in receipt of equivalent funding from another source (eg industry).
