Applications are invited for this Medical Research Council (MRC) funded postdoctoral research position in the group of Dr Shuzo Sakata in the Centre for Neuroscience University of Strathclyde (CeNsUS), Glasgow. You will work on one of our ongoing projects “Pathological ensembles in the auditory thalamocortical circuit following acoustic trauma”. The mission of our research team is to understand how sensory information is processed by brain circuits, and to develop better strategies for the improvement and restoration of sensory abilities, with emphasis on hearing. Candidates should have a PhD in the field of systems neuroscience. Experience with in vivo extracellular recording, rodents behavioural testing and/or computer programming (e.g., MATLAB, C++, and/or LabVIEW) is essential. Knowledge of auditory neuroscience is desirable.
