British Council announces IELTS Prize for students of Malaysia, Hong Kong/Macau, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam. The prize enables students to study any chosen course in an undergraduate or postgraduate programme of a higher institution that accepts IELTS as part of its admission requirements. Five scholars with the top scores from the whole of the East Asia region will each receive a scholarship to the value of NTD 600,000.The application deadline is 31 May, 2015..  The British Council IELTS Prizes are awarded to high-calibre individuals with the motivation to develop their career, and who demonstrate the potential to contribute to society what they have gained from their undergraduate/postgraduate study experience locally or overseas. The prize enables students to study any chosen course in an undergraduate or postgraduate programme of a higher institution that accepts IELTS as part of its admission requirements.. Scholarship s are awarded to pursue undergraduate or postgraduate degree programme.

Who can apply to this scholarship?
· Be a permanent resident of Hong Kong/Macau, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam.
· Begin undergraduate or postgraduate study in 2015 (academic year).
· Attend a higher educational institution that accepts IELTS as part of its admission requirements.
· Have a valid IELTS score obtained from the British Council on or after 1 June 2014.
· Have a minimum band score of 6 in each of the four component parts of the test.
· Be able to provide an acceptance letter from the attending institution by 30 June 2015.
Benefits of the scholarship: Grand prizes: Five prizes worth GBP12,000@ as tuition fee subsidy for the top five students in the East Asia region. (The East Asia region includes Hong Kong/Macau, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam) Local prizes: Five prizes worthRM10,000 (Malaysia), NTD 100,000 (Taiwan), Rp 25,000,000 (Indonesia) and HKD25,000 (Hong Kong/Macau) @ as tuition fee subsidy.

Number of scholarships: There are two levels of award. 5 successful students each will receive a prize to the value of RM10,000 (Malaysia), NTD 100,000 (Taiwan), Rp 25,000,000 (Indonesia) and HKD25,000 (Hong Kong/Macau). The 5 students with top scores from the whole of the East Asia region will each receive a prize to the value of £12,000.
