The Department of Science and Technology (DST) and the Japan Science & Technology (JST) are jointly funding for research projects for Japanese-Indian Cooperative Program in the area of Biomedical Research. Based on the results of the evaluation, JST and DST will make a common decision regarding funding of selected proposals. JST supports expenses for Japanese researchers and DST supports expenses for Indian researchers. However, exchange visits of researchers for approved activities under the program would be supported in bilateral mode. Application deadline is 31st October, 2013.. Who can apply to this scholarship?  The joint application must include one Indian and one Japanese Principal Investigators, who would be responsible for technical as well as administrative co
· ordination of the project and its periodic scientific and financial reporting to the DST/ JST respectively. The Principal Investigator (PI) and other investigators in India should be scientists/ faculty members working in a regular capacity in UGC recognized Universities/ Deemed Universities/Academic Institutes and National Research & Development Laboratories/ Institutes. It is preferred that a member of the project team may be designated as Co
· PI.
Benefits of the scholarship:  JST supports expenses for Japanese researchers, and DST supports expenses for Indian researchers. However, exchange visits of researchers for approved activities under the program would be supported in bilateral mode i.e. a dispatching side would provide a return air ticket and premium for overseas medical insurance, and the inviting side would provide local hospitality (accommodation, meals or per diem in lieu of and local transport). DST provides the following support under the Programme: For Indian Researchers – Cost of International airfare to and from the designated research location, visa fee, airport taxes, overseas medical insurance premium for the approved visit duration and airport transfers in India. For Japanese Researchers – Costs of accommodation in a guest house, per diem and domestic travel expenses in India including airport transfers as per DST norms.
