German Research Foundation (DFG) is funding four Germany PhD and two MD students positions in the field of RNA Biology at the Martin Luther University in Halle in Germany. Positions are available for three years program. For PhD positions, applicants must hold Master (M.Sc.) obtained after at most 11 Semester and/or the age of 26 online application must be submitted by 30 November 2013.. We offer four PhD student positions (Early Stage Researcher) in the field of RNA biology, at one of Germany’s oldest universities, Martin Luther University (Halle-Wittenberg). This position is funded by a research training group (RTG1591) from the respected German Research foundation (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, DFG). The RTG1591 provides a unique framework for interdisciplinary research, with 11 labs from the faculties of Natural Sciences and Medicine collaborating and joining efforts under the objective of elucidating mechanisms controlling gene expression at the post-transcriptional level, and determining how these modulate cell fate, human diseases and plant immunity. Our three year program provides the opportunity to undertake world-class research and gain practical knowledge via interdisciplinary ‘hands-on’ workshops and local/international seminars. Students are expected to participate in conferences and retreats, as well as conduct research that is relevant and rigorous.. Who can apply to this scholarship? PhD candidates – Master (M.Sc.) obtained after at most 11 Semester and/or the age of 26
· Average grade in Master oral exams 2 or better
· Grade for Master thesis 1.7 or better MD candidates – “1. Abschnitt der ärztlichen Prüfung” (M1) in 4 ‘Fachsemester’ – Grade for the written part of M1 with grade “2″ or better – Completion of the first two clinical semesters without any failure
· Recommendation of at least one professor of the Medical School. Exceptions: The maximum age can be exceeded by: (1) military or voluntary public service; (2) maternity or paternity break(s); (3) graduation in a second specialist subject (Berufsausbildung); (4) study stipend abroad; (5) extraordinary grades. Any other exceptions will only be accepted based on written statements.
