The aim of MIMS is to strengthen Swedish research and enhance the dynamics in the field of molecular medicine, partly by promoting the career opportunities for young scientists. MIMS is established within the Umeå Centre for Microbial Research that includes researchers active in the fields of molecular and clinical microbiology, molecular biology, chemistry and physics and is closely connected to the university hospital.
– Applicants must not have resided or carried out his/her main activity in Sweden for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to his/her appointment. Short stays such as holidays are not taken into account. – Prerequisites at time of registration as PhD-student for all positions include one of the following alternatives i) 240 ECTS credits (Swe. högskolepoäng) of higher education studies of which 60 should be on an advanced level within molecular biology, biomedicine, biochemistry, bioengineering and/or microbiology. This is equivalent to a European University Master degree. ii) 120 Swedish (old) credits (Swe. poäng; corresponding to 180 ECTS-credits) of higher education studies if they were taken before July 1, 2007 or equivalent competence.
