University of Western Australia offers Scholarships for International Research Fees (SIRFs) for international students. These scholarships are offered to undertake the degree of Masters by Research or Doctor of Philosophy in Australia. The scholarship provide course tuition fees and standard health cover only for each semester of the course in line with the scholarship tenure and conditions. The basis of selection of award is academic achievement. Applications must be sent by the online application process by 31st January 2013.. The aim of the UWA SIRF scholarship is to attract top quality international postgraduate students to areas in which the University has specialized research strengths and to support Australia’s research effort. Successful applicants can expect to become members of a research team working under the direction of senior researchers and in an area which has attracted external resources. Application for a scholarship is also an application for admission to the University.. This scholarship is for pursuing Masters by Research or Doctor of Philosophy.

Benefits of the scholarship: These scholarships cover International Tuition Fees for up to four (4) years, as well as Overseas Health Cover for the award holder only. SIRF awardees may also be awarded a full living allowance scholarship.

Duration: The scholarship is tenable for the duration of the course for which it is awarded which is: -two years for the degree of master’s by research; -three years for a doctoral degree.
