The project, entitled Fostering reading comprehension skills, aims to contribute to our knowledge about how children develop –or fail to develop- the ability to comprehend what they read. The specific aims of the research project are (1) to gain insight in the development of cognitive processes that occur during reading comprehension, (2) to identify problems that struggling comprehenders experience and, possibly, identify subgroups of struggling readers, and (3) to develop and test interventions that can be implemented in classrooms to prevent or diminish problems in reading comprehension.

Master degree in pedagogy/educational sciences, cognitive or developmental psychology, or related area Fluency in Dutch, good command of English Experience or affinity with the area of reading comprehension and child development/education Excellent research and writing skills
